Our elders and ministers plan for us to focus on REACHING OUT in 2013. Center Road is a loving church family which does reach out, however, we want to refocus our efforts on doing so.
We are finishing a season when most in the world have some recognition of the best news the world could have ever received. These comforting words “’The virgin will be with child and will give birth a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ – which means, ‘God with us.’” are preceded with “She will give birth to a s on, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1).
God reached to us with his Son, not just to comfort us, but to save us. While it’s encouraging to reflect on the comfort of “God with us” — it has a whole lot of deep meeting attached to it. The reason there’s a problem being with God in the first place is sin.
We want to be about reaching out and comforting everyone we possibly can. However, in the process, we don’t want to skip the most important part of our message and our lives… that Jesus came to deal with sin… and we are sinners. This world is punctured with the dark consequences of sin.
So, we’re working on how to reach out and share the message of Christ. We know it takes a village — we all have to work together on this important mission. Pray and talk with us about this important purpose. We’re meeting on January 12 to work on this plan. We’d love to hear from you first.
